Growing Pains… revisited.

Posted in Musing at 1:19 pm by Dee

I’m growing…I don’t like it.
I’m growing… And it hurts.
I love you, but I’m tired.
I guess I’ve got a lot to learn.”
- Wayne Watson

Even at this age, I find that I’m still growing. Emotionally, behaviorally and spiritually. I think physically, I’m done and at the height of 5′7 (+3/4) I’m none too happy about it. But of course there’s nothing to be done about that except if I want to explore stretching my bones. Hah, somehow pain in that area doesn’t sound too desirable. My tastes for things in life, my priorities, my relationships with people and with God are changing, growing. I’m becoming more aware of this growth than I’ve ever been in my life and I suppose that’s a good thing?

To think that two years earlier,

1. Being healthy was overrated.
- Now I enjoy eating Fiber One cereal and soy milk, drinking beet/carrot juice and water religiously. And now, junk food is overrated and too sweet.

2. I avoided exercising like the plague
- I look forward to Wii Fit Plus everyday and enjoy yoga

3. Love is reserved for only the closest people in my life
- God is love and it should be shared with everyone. Now love means sharing God’s heart and yours with EVERYONE, in word and action.

4. Prayed whenever was convenient.
- Recently, talking to Jesus is like conversing with an amazing friend.

5. Smiling is overrated.
- Haha! I realize that what you show on the outside reveals what’s inside. If I’m joyful, why not show it on my face? I am a window that God’s light should shine through. Smile and show the love of Jesus

6. Friends come and go.
- Well… Of course but cherish the ones that are with you presently!

7. Serve only when you can.
- As a Christian, I’m called to be a servant in God’s kingdom. Forget about inconvenience (mostly) and give it all you got.

Two years from now, I thought I had it all figured out. That most of my growing was done but I find that with each pain in learning the top 7 growing points in my life (listed above), I’m not done yet! But in that case, I better go find some Bengay for my aching joints. Till next time.
